Design services for the network operation, process control, and dispatch enviroments

We use a multi-phased approach in which we uncover every detail that can or will impact the control room. Most control rooms function fairly well under normal circumstances. However, in a crisis mode your control room must function at its most efficient.

Phase One (Operational Observation)

The design and consultation process involves a scheduled observation of current operational function within the existing control room to better understand “normal” activity and Standard Operating Procedures. Using our own Time and Motion Studies, we measure those activities which can cause operator fatigue such as traffic passes, operator adjustment etc. We also measure the current environments existing conditions, including light levels, noise levels, temperature, humidity etc.

Phase Two (Team Interview)

Engages key personnel (including operators, supervisors, IT, facilities, architectural, management, etc.) in an organized interview process, during which, we address up to 100 critical elements that impact the control room design.

Phase Three (Design Phase)

Based on all of the information gathered, we create a report detailing our findings (data reports and written summary) and give our recommendations along with a preliminary design(s) depicting and detailing all areas and aspects of the control room (consoles, display technology, war rooms, training rooms, rest and recovery areas, kitchens, break rooms, exercise areas, rest rooms, storage areas, conference rooms etc) A design review is conducted to determine the final working design.
