Computational fluid dynamic modeling of a data centers cooling effectiveness
CoolAudit CFD is a service designed to provide a detailed assessment of the temperature and air flow within your data center. This service uses Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software to provide full color visualizations of your data center environment. This analysis can pinpoint problem areas in your data center and even highlight the root cause. This information can lead to huge gains in cooling efficiency and effectively address heat issues before they lead to costly downtime.
The CoolAudit CFD includes one of our specialists to come on-site to gather information on your data center. Data will be gathered in every server rack, CRAC unit, rack aisle way and the sub floor. With this information, we can effectively re-create your data center environment in the CFD software. The software transforms the data into a very accurate depiction of the temperature and airflow patterns of your data center. Data Center Resources uses the industry leading TileFlow software, which was designed specifically for the data center market and has been consistently tested to an accuracy of 90+% in real world applications.
We will take the information we gathered and the results of the CFD analysis to generate a full report on your current cooling environment in your data center. In addition, we will also include in the report specific steps for improving efficiency. We will provide a second set of CFD reports depicting the temperature and air flow changes in your room after the recommended steps are put into place. Our specialists will perform several "what if's" changes to determine what will be the best approach for eliminating your problems areas. These changes will not involve major changes to your layout or capital investment in new infrastructure. They will focus on more simple fixes, such as sealing cable openings, using high flow air tiles in selected areas, partitions to direct airflow, removing obstructions, or other non-intrusive modifications.
