Remote Environmental Monitoring

High temperatures, humidity and water can all cause system failures and down time.  Unfortunately, in most cases, these conditions were not known until they caused damage.  This is even more likely in remotely managed and "lights out" data centers that do not have much personnel near the equipment.  Environmental monitoring can detect potential problems before they cause damage.  This allows time to take action to prevent or minimize downtime.

Most environmental monitoring solutions also include security monitoring features.  These can take the form of cameras which provide video of a rack or even a room.  Door sensors can provide data logs and/or alerts every time a cabinet door is opened.  The event of opening a door can also trigger the video camera to record who was in the cabinet and what they worked on.

> Rack Monitoring
The data center has become increasingly rack centric.  Server cabinets now hold up to 42 individual servers or over one hundred blade servers.  If a cabinet is compromised, all systems and applications are affected.  Monitoring the physical and security environment within the rack is now mandatory.

> Room Monitoring
Monitoring a network room or a portion of a data center can be accomplished with a wall mountable environmental monitoring station.  These units include internal and external sensors to track environmental conditions.  Video cameras to provide cost effective security monitoring.
